Internet-shaming: intersections of gender and race

Jon Ronson does a good job at showing how men can escape from internet
harassment more easily than women. It would have been good if he had also
highlighted the question of race in his article. It is interesting that Ms.
Stone (who is white) can escape her past (albeit with specialist help), as can
“Hank” (also white) who initially lost his job after a sexist joke of his went viral. He got a new job straightaway. Ms. Richards (who is black) is still suffering the
consequences of objecting to this sexist joke: she still has no other job, and she is still hounded by online misogynists threatening her with sexual violence and harm. I think the article could be made much stronger by making Ms. Richards, rather than Ms. Stone the focus.
